Paleo Chocolate Mousse

Paleo – serves 4 (decent serves, actually probably serves 5)


  • 4 x ripe avocados
  • 1 x ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste (no added sugar)
  • 1/4 cup raw honey
  • 1 tbsp allspice or cinnamon
  • 50g raw hazelnuts


  • Roast hazelnuts in the oven for 2 – 3 minutes at 180 degrees. Set aside to cool
  • Mix avocado flesh in a mixmaster until smooth consistency
  • Add remaining ingredients and mix together
  • Spoon into serving dishes, seal and refrigerate for 1 – 2 hours
  • When ready to serve, scatter with crushed hazelnuts and shaved cacao or dark chocolate (Thomas Dux sells this organic, 80% dark chocolate that has no sugar and is made with coconut oil and agave which HAS to be paleo)Inspired by Jo’s Chocolate Mousse with strawberries – I simply added banana, allspice and hazlenuts.
