Quick Fresh Dessert or Breakfast Treat



  • 4 large navel oranges
  • Peel from one orange, cut into fine strips (remove all the white part of the peel
  • 75 grams raw almonds, sliced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup shredded coconut


  • Preheat oven to 160 degrees
  • Peel oranges and pull apart into 8 segments. Cut segments in half or thirds depending on the size of the orange
  • Add to a bowl with cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix together with orange peel
  • Pour orange mixture into a baking dish, top with almonds
  • Place tray in oven and cook for 5 minutes. Change oven to grill, add coconut and grill on medium heat for a further 5 minutes until nuts and coconut are all toasted (in the picture below I added the coconut after I’d grilled the whole thing, but I think it would be nicer toasted)
  • Serve warm, by itself or with chilled whipped coconut cream
